Istanbul Trip Part 13: To The Seaside

We got off the tram and we were walking very fast because we wanted to visit ONE MORE PLACE before calling it a day.. Our first Museum of The History of Science and Technology in Islam. when we reached there though, we found out that the museum is not opened that day! wahahaha...

So we hurried on and tried to maybe visit Haggia Sofia today...

Saw this very french looking building.. very interesting and very sweet... and strange to see it among all the old old buildings along the stretch of the road...

Even though we could not visit the museum (which was situated in Gulhane Park), we thought since we are already here, cannot miss the photo opp! ;)

Right click and select OPEN IN NEW TAB to see the photo in full size...

Saw a fly at Topkapi Palace and today.. we see a BZ BUZZY BEE!:)

As you can tell, I was bz being MODEL in Max's photo shots:) Ace was just wandering around by the side... looking for more flowers on the floor:) wahahaha

Saw this on our way to Haggia Sofia

But when we reached, we were told that the entrance is at the other side.. so we tried to go by the side..

And that gave us a different view!:)

And also, we still cannot help but take photos along the way.. one of these buildings is actually a library..

Harlow gate! We meet again!

Anyway, we found out that Haggia Sofia closes at 4pm... and we were already 10 min past closing time! So cannot go in lor:(

So we had to find something else to do. We saw in the far horizon.. the sea.. and I told Max, maybe if we walked in that direction, we will come to the seaside... Max agreed and we decided to try to make our way to the seaside or have fun while getting lost getting there:) wahahaha...

We can see the sea!

Ace was just whiney because ALL he wanted to do.. is go to a shopping area to buy GSHOCK! Wahahaha

It was an interesting walk towards the sea.. we saw lots of interesting things like this small mosque...

The king of the sea in someone's garden..

And we found an exercise corner and Ace was happy to be able to find a "playground".

THere was an Amercian family there as well and Max was hilarious! Max thought that the wife was one of the man's daughters!:) wahaha

I said I wanted to take photo of this Tulip phone booth and Max says he wants to be in it..
 hahaha

Then have to resume my "modelling job" for Max.. he is very fascinated with white tulips..

And then we walked and walked and walked....

And finally, we came to the sea!:)

And we saw this lovely cat by the sea...

Right click and open in new tab to see the pic enlarged..

Ace and Max went to the edge to pose and take photos.. and as I was taking these photos.. I was trembling... cos I was really scared lor... I was so scared they will fall and Ace kept asking me to go over... and  laughed at me that I was chicken that I did not dare to go over.. hahaha:)

Beautiful Istanbul across the waters:)

You take photo of me...

I take photo of you...

And then we noticed that there is this guy setting up balloons and as it was quite cold by the sea, we were wondering who in their right minds will hold a party there...

Suddenly, I looked AROUND the balloons and saw some guns there.. this was actually a stall where you paid money to shoot air pellets at the balloons!

Ace said he wanted to play.. so we asked him to go ask how much it will cost...

Costs 5 lira (about $3.30 sing) to shoot 10 pellets..

Not bad lah.. out of 10 pellets, Ace actually managed to shoot something like 5 balloons once he got the hang of it...

The very happy storekeeper  was happy cos he made something like 20 lira from this father and son who were taking turns to shoot lor:) wahahaha.. but i forgot to take photos of Max shooting...

After they finished shooting with the rifle, they shot with the shotgun...

I think part of the reason why Max was such a sucker for this and paid for so many rounds was also because he found this to be fun:) wahahahaa.. plus.. he said he had a similar experience when he travelled with his family to Indonesia for Qing Ming... And because he had so much fun, he would like Ace to enjoy it too...

Besides, we have never seen this in Dubai and in the tighly regulated Singapore, this will be almost IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND!

We just think this guy is so dam clever. His cos is so low.. the bullets go out at sea and he dun need to clean up his store, just need to blow balloons and tie them on... what a clever business idea lor! Plus the balloons attract attention too...

After they shoot balloons, they started to shoot the glass bottles... Ace says this was more fun cos you can actually see the bottle break open and fall off as compared to the balloons just bursting...

THere were some stalls along the whole stretch.. someone was selling shawls... someone selling fried fish.. some man even just brought a kettle and big bottle of water and some cups and started selling cold drinks and hot  coffee!:)  The next day when we walked past this place in the morning, there were so many people here.. then we realized it was a morning market thingy.. not an evening one like we thought...

Saw these lovely deep purple tulips.. so pretty right?

My friend told me that Tulips were first cultivated in Turkey and eventually brought over to Holland and other countries much later..

These champagne peach ones are pretty sweet as well

As we were walking, noticed this on one of the breakwaters... wah lau.. I really wonder how did people go so far out into the sea to draw that!:)

We tried to walk towards the light house to take photo of it and while walking towards it.. we saw something interesting.. there was a man there.. feeding cats.. I always tot cats ate FISH.. but the man was feeding them CHICKEN SKIN! Maybe leftovers from home or a restaurant.. but cats eat that meh? I saw some lying around uneaten cos it was too much trouble for the cats I think.. they eat the meat stuff on the skin but they dun seem to touch the fats or the skin..

Ace whining AGAIN about when can we go and buy GSHOCK.. wahahaha

Me and Max just want to sit here longer to enjoy the view!

Family photo time!

We decided we were hungry and it is time to look around for dinner.

My gosh... to walk to the sea, it was all the way DOWNHILL... so the way back to search for dinner was tough! It was all the way uphill... wah lau.. 要我的老命!

Ace and Max made it up and were waiting for me.. and also laughing at how slow I was.. wahaha :)

Anyway, our dinner was quite an interesting affair.. and I will tell you why in the next post!:)
