Singapre Art Museum 2013

Visited the Singapore Art Museum with Max and Ace. To be exact, we visited the Children's Art Garden Exhibition...

I found this really interesting.. it is many layers of acrylic with different things being drawn out ...

First stop.. the rainbow garden fairy land!

A very chinese take on the old woman who lived in the shoe...

Guess who these dudes are..

Indian Rumplestiltskin.. anyone?

Yo yo yo... Little Red Riding Hood in Kebaya!:)

Ace "swimming" in the pool...

Malay Style Hansel and Gratel...

Next stop, we went to this exhibition which was a show case by young artistes..

THis is very interesting.. it is DEMOCRACY.. but with inverted commas... hahaha.. Presenting to you the stools of the government... Honey Lipbalm... Mutting Pills.. Eye Filter..  I dunno whether to luff or to cry when I saw this.. I hope they are not referring to OUR government...

This is quite scary... supposedly fetuses.. but they are actually made from CLAY... very life like hor!

My favourite simply cos it looks so happy!

I like this as well.. it is made from bubble wrap.. the rest of the bubble wrap has got something in it.. those without form the words "Pracis makse purfet".. what an irony!

This one I dunno if you can see it here.. it is a photo but I tell you.. I dunno is it the lighting or wat.. it looked like REAL BREAD lor.. I actually tried to touch to check if it really is a smooth surface picture!

One man's rubbish is another man's gold I guess...

Next we went to this room about scary things in the bedroom...

THere, you can design and make your own scary mask..

This is Ace's design..

THat is the exhibit.. where you come in, you see a happy bedroom.. you sit on the bed, they will turn you around into a bedroom where everything is eerie and black..  like the nightmares you might have or monsters you might think are hiding under your bed when you were small...

After that, we visited this glow in the dark exhibit..

When we first walked in.. saw this.. and couldnt figure what it is made of.. after a long time then we realize it is just lots of white thread weaving around to form shapes against black background with ultra violet light over it.. really quite cool and nice!

How is how the room looked like...

In the next room, they had a few displays where you can create your own piece of artwork.. But well, Max is just interested in taking funny photos..

Ace making his own creation..

My creation:)

Max trying to be funny :)

A for ACE:)

Ace din want to go.. wanted to complete this before he left...

Max 等到花儿也谢了..

Finally finished!

Next we went to the art room.. where there was this throw the hoop game made using table legs:)

If you stand in the middle, you realize the doorway is of a cat and two eyes:)

Now time to start working on our art pieces :)

I did the Overweight Kitty :)

Ace made a paper bird...

Max docorated his own hot air balloon...

Mr Money face decorated his hot air balloon with shadings of the $1 coin:) haha

Then we went and watched lots of cartoons in the screening room and went for tea... Ace insisted that we also have to visit the main art museum.. we we went lor..

This time round, they had artwork from UAE. Funny right, I am from Singapore, live in UAE but have to go back to Singapore to see artworks from the UAE :) THere were quite a few that I liked..

One of them is a video artwork about how children who have lived away from home lose the ability to communicate in their own language. The video is like three parts.. one is the grandma and mother talking.. mother and daugther talking and grand daughter and grandma talking. you could see visibly that both grandma and grand daugther both struggling to understand each other.. I hope it doesnt happen to Ace.

Another piece of worked I really liked was also a piece of video installation. It was three different videos in diff settings and the inside is some girl dressed up like a super star.. like a pop star.. and then she would sing.. and the music sounded like pop songs as well.. but she was singing in a foreign language and the translation of the lyrics showed that the song was about going to war and why men should fight and kill people... And the piece was titled.. LOVE LOVE LOVE... how ironic..

LIke this piece.. it is a quote that says...

The real meaning of enlightenment is to to use your undimmed eyes on all darkness

I walked into the room and saw alot of wires.. tot someone working.. and just left the stuff there.. till I saw this PLUG tat looks like a snake.. hahaha :) Then I realized it was installation art:)

Guess what these fluffy white clouds are made of?

You would never have guessed.. they are made from the plastic tags used to tag prices to our clothes!

Then we revisited this part of the museum...

After that, we went to explore the museum  shop... and we saw SAI CHWEE on sale! Hahahaha.. Like tat also can.. who will want to buy NEWATER man..

This one is another one of my fav.. the watch has a spider as the second hand... and inside has the word KAN CHEONG.. wahahahaha.. hilarious!

After tat.. went to lao di fang to have dinner cos long time no go liao.. and got to eat my fav hong shao mian! woo hoo!

San bei mushroom...

gan bian si ji dou... oh.how i miss them!!!

And that marked the end of a fantastic day!:)
