Hong Kong Trip Day 2: City Tour with Xiao Ma Ge!

Someone watched cartoons till 1am and so next morning, had a hard time waking up...so by the time the bus picked us up, he was still in zzz mode:)

Day 2 is day for a free City Tour that comes along with our trip. That is our guide.. he says his name is XIAO MA.. and i think tat he really looks a little like the Taiwanese actor, Ma Jingtao... and he is very cute lor.. he is like a walking natural health advice column.. hahaha.. and throughout the day keeps sharing so many health tips tat I used to share with others for a living:)

Anyway, for today, breakfast is dim sum at a restaurant that the famous HK director, Wong Jing, opened... and what do you know.. they have a special dim sum set for vegeterians!

Max is super happy lor:)

Grumpy Ace is still somewhat sleepy:)

According to Xiaoma, this restaurant is used for filming in some of his movies.. does it look familiar at all?

Taday.. our food is here! I so love the custard salted egg yolk bun! YUMS!

After some food, Mr Sleepyhead woke up!:)

The food is not too bad.. and I think as part of the marketing as a restaurant owned by Wong Jing, they also put up many movie posters around...

After a good hearty breakfast, we drive from Kowloon to HK Island... we passed by the University of HK and there were so many buildings with people's names.. I guess those are sponsors of the universities..

Guess where we are going.. we are going towards repluse bay where many movie stars stay...

This is the abode of one of my fav actors, Lu Liangwei:) Hahahaha...

Then we came into this place that looked like a temple but it is actually Causeway Bay Park. There is a very huge God Of Fortune inside and this is Xiaoma showing us how we should touch the god of fortune and put good fortune into our pockets:)

Ace's turn to touch the God of Good Fortune:)

Max's fav hobby, touching the laughing buddha's tummy...

This is some longeivity bridge lah.. supposedly everytime you go pass it you will prolong your life by 3 days.. guess wat, I can live 6 days more now:) wahahaha:)

Guanyin...

When you walk furthur down, there is actually a pretty cool beach where you can see all the beautiful houses of Lee Ka Shing, Jackie Chan, Maggie Cheung.. etc...

Our family taking turn to touch the buddha that is in charge of helping people concieve.. praying for another addition to our family soon:) Ace wants a di di and me and Max wishes it will be a girl.. but well, I guess to a parent most impt is bb happy and healthy.. doesnt matter is girl or boy:)

Ace decided that it is impt to have more money so he wanted to go and touch the God of Good Fortune AGAIN!:)

Then back to our bus to rest.. Ace kept saying that he feels hungry, so his dad asked him to meditate... he did but ended up everytime with his tongue licking his lips cos he says everytime he tries to close his eyes and meditate, he will start to dream of food:) wahahahah

Looks like someone is APPLE/ Steve Jobs fan in our bus... tat is one of the decorations our bus had:)

Goodbye Repulse Bay:)

Next, we made our way to this place where we can hop on a ship to visit the last of the
"boat people" in HK. Remember them in the many HK movies we watched? For $1000HKD a year, they get a licence to live on the waters in their boats! But there arent many of them now.. And many of them are still in the seafood production industry...

This is the little boat we will be taking for the ride.. alas, it is not very different from taking the Abbra to go along Dubai Creek.. i would rather take the Abbra anytime:) :) Cheaper and nicer:)

But the trip not without its perks.. That on the right... is Lee Ka Shing's boat:)

Max asked me to take a photo of this boat as we dun usually see black boats.. most boats are white so he says it looks very nice and very special:)

Remember the JUMBO restaurants where one of the famous movies of our time was filmed? I was referring to Stephen Chow's Kitchen God...

These are fishermen's boats...

And that, my friends, are the "houses" that the boat people live in...

After that, we were off to visit a jewellery factory..

The one we visited is called TSL... and they are famous for this series of jewellery called the windmill collection. Some time back, I asked Max to buy me a heart shaped ring.. but since we did not manage to see or find any nice ones, we thought perhaps just get max to buy me one of these lah...

The unique thing about this pendant is tat the windmill can turn when you shake the pendant.. amazing.. dunno how they did it.. apparently turn left or right brings different types of good luck to you:) Accordingly, why they came up with this series was because when TSL (the founder of the company) went to the temple with some famous monk or geomancer (i dun remember which), the monk said that the good luck windmill that people buy and blow in temples will actually be good for people looking to improve their luck and suggested tat they come up with a design like tat...

After tat, we went to a factory tat sold herbs.. but we are not so interested in that lah... The aunty though suggested we buy these dried strawberries with added tian shan xue lian.. cost like $60 sing per box lor.. xiao bo... Ace ate and ate and ate so much of it! (But partially also cos he was hungry lah...)

Since we were bored, we went back to the bus to rest lor:)

Saw this one the streets.. but I think not as nice as my lucky windmill!:)

Then it was time for lunch at some good restaurant.. I dunno wat they others ate as we sat by ourselves in a vegeterian table but the food was good! Or maybe we were just too hungry!:) After tat, we brought Ace to look at the seafood they had to show him the different spieces of seafood.....

Then it was on to Lantau Island!

We took a cable car and travelled to this village.....

The view from the top:)

That is where we are headed.. the famous buddha statue at Lantau Island...

We even saw some tombstones on the hills.. remember how the HK dramas always say got good fengshui up at the hills? I guess this might be one of them.. but I wonder HOW they descendents are going to get here to pray their respects??

Arrival at the village!
We are only given a few hours here and so we hastily make our way towards the buddha;)

There was lots of cow dung around cos there were cows roaming about for tourists to take pictures:)

The arhat in charge of the SNAKE.. and the beautiful SNAKE:) hahaha

The Dragon arhart.. and the fiesty dragon:)

Wah lau eh, tat looked like some climb...

We counted the steps.. took us 200 steps to go up!:)

Ace climbed very quickly and was so excited.. I was panting all the way!

View from the top...

Asked Ace to take photo for us but dunno why he cut out his dad's tummy:)

And here's another 200 steps DOWN again:)

At the end of the climb up and down... my legs were wobbly and shivering!

Anyway, Ace donated some xiang you money to the buddha and made a prayer and all his prayers came true!

Gosh, some of the tee shirts I think Ace will need.. the first one says, "Brush teeth everyday before bedtime..", the second one says, "No TV while eating..." and the third one is a monkey on skateboard.. tat we did buy for Ace eventually:)

Wan Joo Ge Ge.. pretty or not?:P

I love these keychains.. especially the one for the door of the house.. so cute!

Saw this poster and made me laugh.. remind me of the worst vegeterian wedding dinner I ever had... it was all mock fish or chicken in the particular shape but it all tasted the same! eew... I dunno why this is considered the main delicacy lor!:) wahahahaha

Few more pics before we go....

Wa kauz, the queue was dam long lor... we started queuing and then realized tat it was a never endeding queue.. queued for two hours just to take the cable car back! After that, no queue is considered a big deal anymore! So crazy... tat is even longer than the time it took us to explore the village and visit the golden buddha!

Finally in the cable car....

After a very long wait, our whole tour group is finally back and we made our way to Xing Guang Da Dao...

Lovely view of HK in the night..

Huat ah! Lucky dragon spouting water!

Anyway, there were lots of handprints of famous celebrities.. this one is for my sis.. Aaron Kwok's handprints...

This one for my mum.. Lau Ching Wan's handprints:)

Director Ace at work...

I wonder if my bestie, knew tat she shares her chinese name with a famous HK actor!:)

Ace is a Bruce Lee wannabe:)

We realized we were quite near our hotel and decided to walk back.. but we kept wandering around in circles and finally, as it was already quite late, we decided to eat near our hotel... and since we have already done Charlie Brown Cafe, we decided this time round to do jap food...

Ace was so happy cos tat is what he prayed to the buddha for when he donated money!:) wahahahahahahah

Max was not so happy since his idea of a great HK holiday is desserts, dim sums and wat nots:)

Anyway, the jap food was so so only....

So when we finally reached home, Max decided to go out to buy some food for breakfast tomorrow and meanwhile, got Mr Ace Chua to bath... he is so besotted with tat robe and he declares that he wants to wear the robe all the time...

Even when he is eating his ice cream and cakes tat daddy bought for him:)

Anyway, before he slept, we made him take off the robe.. the next day though, we found him without his pants and wearing the robe... I guess we were too tired and no one realized that Ace woke in the middle of the night and peed in his pants.. he quietly changed out of his pants and changed into the robe without our knowing.. sigh.... how old liao still pee in the bed???

And to make matters worse, I only brought ONE long pants to the trip.. so in the end, Ace had to wear his shorts to bed the following night... So this brings the end of our day two in HK...
