SGI Gulf Pioneer Division General Meeting

The other day, my group leader in SGI Gulf contacted me again.

Apparently there is some sort of children's meeting/party in the coming weekend and so we decided to bring Ace there.. especially when the location of the meeting is actually very close to our house...

We woke up early morning so that Ace could have the mac donalds breakfast he so craved for such a long time:) wahahaha...

After breakfast, we drove around a little bit to find the place of the meeting. As with most places in Dubai, there is no exact street address and we had to drive around to search for the buliding... it turned out to be an apartment with a really big function/party room...

I was told that this was a UAE meeting... it is SGI Gulf's 2nd Pioneer (Children) Division's General Meeting.. so there will be people driving in from Abu Dhabi and Sharjah as well. But leh, the majority of the group will be indians and I think there were only 3 non indian families I saw there....

When Ace came into the room, they were blowing up the balloons and decorating the place and so Ace got a balloon and started to play with one... He got his dad to help him with it...

Afterward, Max left to go home and rest for a while before coming out.. and Ace somehow made friends with the most active boy in the room!:P And they were running about the whole room playing catching with each other!

Ace getting his attendance marked...

That is Ace and his new friend...

The meeting started off with some brain gymnastics.... I suspect the lady who was leading the exercise is a teacher.. cos the way she carried herself and the way she talked...

These are our two hosts for the day...

That is the children singing the theme song for the day called Peace...

Here is a video of it:

The leaves are actually paper for them to write their determinations and goals for the coming year... There are also lots of goodies for their party later...

Momoyo (my leader) sharing a message from Ikeda Sensei.. asking them to work hard and never give up...

Then came a session where some of the children took turns to share their testimonials.. one little boy mentioned how he chanted hard for good results and scored straight As all the way.. I remembered doing that when I was younger:)

There was also this sweet girl who wrote a poem dedicated to her mum:)

And then there was a girl who shared that her mum had a bad temper and so they din have a great relationship.. instead of blaming her mum, she chanted to become a better daughter and somehow this has made them closer and now they are best frens.. isn't that sweet?:P

Then the children were given out the leaves to write their goals for the year... they were told to write not what their parents wanted but what they wanted..

I couldnt tell what Ace was going to write since he changed his goal every now and then!:) Something like once every three days... wahahaha

She must be writing a juicy goal since she looks so happy:)

Ace chose one the shape of a sun...

So there is what Ace wrote:) I dunno what science skills mean but I do know that at present, they are learning how to do investigative science.. which will help him become a great spy or forensics expert.. whichever he chooses to become in future;) hahahaha

Then next it was time for a movie.. it was actually a short cartoon called The Treasures Of The Desert... it was written by Ikeda Sensei..

The storyline was about this little boy who went to school during his birthday. He has lots of luxuries in life and when his friend drew him a picture as a birthday present, he did not appreciate it. His teacher gave him a picture of Dun Huang (Mogao Caves) and when he was looking at the picture, he went inside it and he got to know this old man and his granddaughter who had very little and was working hard to preserve the treasures of Dun Huang. He learnt later that the most precious things and gifts are gifts from the heart and so when he went back to his own life, he called his friend to thank him for the wonderful painting...

Ace got the best seat in the house as he was seated right in front of the screen...

It was a beautiful story and I never knew tat Ikeda Sensei's children's stories were made into animation..

I came home and googled online and found out there is really a cave that is filled with beautiful buddhist paintings in Dun Huang..

I also googled and tried to find more animation written by Ikeda Sensei and found a few in his website!:) We are going to watch them this weekend as I think they will certainly teach Ace a good lesson or two... I think I read that there were alot more of the animated series and some were broadcasted in various countries... I will do my best to track them down so that Ace can watch them...

Time for group photo...

These came in his goody bag:)

But our good friend eat and dabao.. everyone has one packet of oreo but he dabao extra packet.. and then everyone got a packet of fruit juice and Ace drank one and dabao one more.. wahahahaha

Anyway, I am glad he enjoyed the meeting...:) I know my mum will be very glad tat he did too:) wahahaha...
