Dubai Garden Centre

In recent years, I have been understanding what it mean more and more to "just go with the flow".. I discovered that whenever you do go with the flow, even unplanned accidents happen for the best:)

And the other day, one such "accident" brought us a really pleasant surprise.

The other day, Ace asked we could go to Dubai Mall to visit his favourite "kinokukia" (he always forgets that it is called Kinokuniya) book shop...

While chatting with me in the car, Max missed a turn and so we were driving on and deciding what to do now when I remembered that I had sent Max a link to some second hand bookstores and so we retrieved the email and discovered that we were near one of them... and that was how we discovered this new place called the Dubai Garden Centre..and I am so glad we missed the turn cos we had so much fun there:)

The Dubai Garden Centre sells a mish mash of furniture.. display items.. and even quirky pictures like these:)

These two chairs reminded me of my old house... when we were designing our house, because we had a super big living room (as the four room flat we bought had one wall knocked down and so our living room was in space a living room PLUS a bedroom), we had wanted to but two swings right at the end of our living room...

But when we were shopping for it, we found it to be too ex and dropped the idea.. and thank goodness we did because we did not plan for Ace to arrive so quickly:) And because we din have the swings, we could segregate that area and make it into a little study room while Ace gets his own bedroom..

I just love these furniture.. I have so many ideas about wat to do when I go back to Singapore and buy my next home:)

Love these garden gnomes.. so cute:)

They also sold fishes!

And there is even a mini koi pond!:) Too bad there is no bread for Ace to feed fishes..

We found these small fishes tat followed your hands.. you just place your hands there and they will swim towards it.. so cute!:)

They also sold tortoises;)

Ace checking out the second hand bookstore.. He found a Bart Simpson book and a Horrible Histories book about Greece and another Horrible Science book... The way it works is tat you can pay for the book and after you finish reading it.. as long as it is still in good condition, they will take it back at half price... so you pay half price to slowly read the book.. so for the price of buying ONE NEW book, you got to get like 6 instead with this sort of scheme..

But Max's colleague says it is still too ex.. and we found out why when we visited Archie's bookstore on another day.. cos they only charged 1-3 dirhams for each book but you only got to keep each book for two weeks...

Because of the book problem, we have been considering buying a ebook reader and download ebooks.. thinking tat it will save us some storage space and also some money since ebooks might be cheaper.. But so far, we havent gone very far in that direction yet because we discovered that it is quite a hassel to download ebooks as most books are not given licence for sale in the UAE or even in Singapore..  PLUS, ebooks are actually not very much cheaper.. only SLIGHTLY cheaper... Oh well... still considering...

Thre are lots of interesting pieces of furniture sold there like this piece of boat bench..

They also have a outdoor segment tat sells the outdoorsy stuff.. like buddha statues...

Or little angels...

Flowers...

There is even a little playground! While Ace went to play, I walked around somemore to take more pics..

I like this:)

Looks like the lion from Chronicles of Narnia.. hahaha

Have you seen the tomato plant before?

Max taking a break on the bench beside the playground..

While we were observing Ace as he played, we realized that he speaks slightly slanged english when playing with the kids.. quite different from how he speaks to us..

Then me and Max camwhore a little bit.. hahaha

This is how sunflowers look like before they bloom!

Then we went back into the store to walk around... and then we saw this...

And it gave Max such a huge fright.. cos there is a sensor on the floor and when someone walks past, it will start roaring!:) wahahaha

Here is a video of the dino inaction..

Ace on a rocking horse...

Care to feed the koi?

Max and Ace tried to make the fish open its mouth by pretending that their fingers are food!:P Wahahaha

There was a sale going on that day for these small mini fish takes..Max seems interested to get one.. alas our little house in Dubai got no place to put fishtank already lor...

But they still took a pic with it anyway cos Ace says we take picture for mummy to consider approving.. wahahahahah:)

As we were near Dubai Diamond Centre, I wanted to go take a look. I found it to be just a building filled with jewellery shops... a little like the Gold Souk.. only air conditioned... hahaha.. very boring cos i got nothing to buy and there were only two restaurants there.. so we decided to go somewhere else for dinner...

Ace was in his I dun want to eat this, I only want to eat that sort of mood.. luckily we finally managed to convince him that we can eat yummy italian or japanese food.. hehehe...

After that, we decided to go have dinner and all through dinner, Ace was busy reading Book of Life by Bart Simpson which has all sorts of silly nonsense!:) hahaha

Went to Wagamama to eat...

But out of all the four foods we ordered.. only the noodle soup is not bad. the rest are so so only and Ace's vegetable fried rice was actually not nice... but the noodle soup has very interesting taste.. i think if i come back again, tat is what I will order:)

After that., we decided to go home and watch Xi Yang Yang.. whahahahaha
