Burjuman, Our New Playground!

We discovered a new playground for Ace that is comfy, big and has air con... and SAFE:)

Welcome to Burjuman Shopping Centre in Bur Dubai:)

About two weeks ago on a friday morning, because I was not prepared to cook, we had to go out to eat our lunch. But because most places are closed for lunch as it was prayer time in the mosque, we ended up having to eat in Burjuman Shopping Mall's food court.

Ace remembered that it is quite a big mall and was very excited because he wanted to bring his walkie talkie there so that he can play with it as we told him that he can only use the walkie talkie for longer distances and not when we are very near each other.

So we told him that after he finished his meal (a Burger King vegeterian burger), he can play with his dad with his walkie talkie and he as super excited...

The plan was that he was to go to the other end of the food court and his dad will give him instructions on how to get back to find us and he just has to follow instructions...

Initially, Ace was very excited to start the game.... he was so happy he can finally make use of this real walkie talkie that Kerr Gor Gor bought him... (It can transmit up to 5km lor!)

Unfortunately for Ace, he hasn't undergone any NS and so he was not skilled in this area.. whenever his dad asks him to turn left.. he would be turning in circles and moving all the time instead of staying put in one spot for the next instruction.. so he ended up turning in the wrong direction and since that part of the mall is new to him, he eventually got lost and started to cry.. because he did not know how to find us.

We asked him to look out for the sign of the stall we were sitting in front of but in his anxiety and fear, he totally lost it and just bawled while walking around in circles like a headless fly....

The ending is I had to go to him to find him and hug him....

Max was amused that he cried and we told him that we were here all along.. and gave him tips on how to follow the instruction... Also, I told him if he wanted to play, he shouldnt cry.. if he wants to cry over this, then we wouldnt play this game anymore... After hugging his dad for about 5 minutes then did he start to quiet down...

That's his tear stained face...

Anyway, afterward, when we asked him to do the same thing again, this time he was careful to stay within 100 metres of us so that he can see us... his goal was to find starbucks and soon enough, he found it and we went home...

But I think the scare of getting lost made him a little manja.. so he wanted Max to carry him.. When his dad was carrying him, he put his crown on his dad's head... I told Max he looks like Jughead from the Archie comics we used to read when we were young.. wahahaha.. so he posed for me:)

Anyway, fast forward to today.. today being a weekend, and because I was going to start a detox soon and also because Max would be leaving us for 10 days for a business trip, we decided to reward the whole family with a trip down to Burjuman again for some Coffee Bean Ultimate Ice Blended!:) I say it is a reward because three drinks and a piece of cake cost even more than our 4 dishes, 2 plate of rice and 3 drinks in the indon restaurant we visited in the afternoon...)

Ace was as usual excited to go out and he wanted to bring his walkie talkie but Max said not to do so as he had another plan in mind... he decided to let Ace bring his swing scooter since the malls here are pretty big and there is alot of space to play with it in the comfort of aircon and on a smooth surface:)

That's my ultimate ice blended... and Max with his Caramel ice blended which was too sweet for his liking (most of the foods here are either too salty or too sweet.. especially if the chefs are indians or pinoy.. which is mostly the case)

That's me looking relaxed and happy because having the swing scooter around meant that Ace was always bz playing and not bugging me and asking me to mummy this or mummy that.. and that he will not be asking me 100,000 whys:) wahahahaha

Anyway, since Ace loves sweet stuff, Max donated all his caramel to Ace:)

Anyway to buy more time and freedom, Max invented another game... He asked Ace to scoot around CBTL and time him.. encouraging him to be faster and faster with every try...

I think Ace made about 20 rounds around CBTL... and each round, including his rest time, that bought around 20 minutes of peace for me and Max while we chit chatted leisurely about things that have been happening...

Anyway, Ace went home that night a very happy boy... which is more than I can say for the day before when he was virtually throwing tantrums all the time over the smallest things till it culmulated into a 15 minute cry (that started from him being rude and asking me to "不要讲废话" when I asked him to do something, getting scolded and then showing attitude by sitting away from us and not talking or apologizing for being rude.. I told him if he thinks my words are 废话, then I will not talk to him... so in the car when he calmed down, I told him what is wrong with the behaviour he was exhibiting) and he finally cried loudly non stop. When I told him there is no need to cry so long as I was not even scolding him and just explaining to him what is right and what is wrong and he said he was crying because daddy is going away...

In the afternoon when he was playing with his toys, he was pretending that his soft toys were talking and they were saying things like, "Daddy dun go to seychelles... daddy stay..." repeatedly....

Anyway, since he had a good time today, I think he is in a much better mood... so when we were talking about his dad leaving for a trip the next day, Ace asked me, "Mummy, can I cry a little bit?" (as opposed to crying alot everytime his dad left), I told him it is ok to cry but it is not necessary as Daddy will be home soon enough:) It wouldnt be those very long stretches apart like in the past when we were in SIngapore and Daddy was in Dubai...
